The one thing I have learned about India and particularly Bangalore in these past four and a half years is even with a hearty Nepalese and North-east student communities present here for more then a decade people around here still suffer from the serious case of blatant staring. Sometimes I feel like I have a board on my forehead that says " Stare at me, I am an Alien " I know for a fact that I look different then most of the people down south, but is it necessary to make it so obvious and uncomfortable? Just because I am fair toned, with perfectly small eyes does not give them any right to stare me down, or judge me in any way. The stare down gets worse if it is accompanied by the famous one liner I am often used to hearing, " Hey Chinky " Why do people have to prove that they are not just plainly stupid and ignorant but extremely WEIRD. We small eyed people are as much part of the same time zone and few even from the same country as well.I dont know if it is just the south that has been infested with such extremely ignorant people or if these incidents goes around throughout India. But if there is anyone out there with a cure for the disease- BLATANT STARING, then feel free to write to me and every other non Southerner who have the similar complains.
